In order to protect the data contained within Excel documents, a lot of people make the document read only. When trying to edit a read only Excel worksheet you will be met with an error, stating that the document cannot be edited and must be saved as new.
In order to bypass this error and edit the file you need to disable the read only mode. There are 4 different ways to disable read only in Excel, each method suited for different circumstances.
Marked as Final in Excel
If your Excel worksheet is marked as final, then you will see the following notification when opening the file.
To edit the file, all you have to do is click on Edit anyways and the file will open up as normal.
